I really dig the concept and idea when bands do not have a vocalist and they
let the music shine. Zonderhoof is one of those bands that follow this ethos.
They are Ukrainian transplants, now living in Wales in the U.K. Their demo
is comprised of three songs and clocks in at around 17 minutes. There are
obvious influences such as the Melvins and Black Sabbath. Good production,
with a big, full sound. The guitars are thick and heavy, and the drumming
was all over the place. They are a tight band. Overall, the demo sounded
pretty haunting at times. There seemed to be this whole sense of uneasiness.
There are instrumental bands out there such as Pelican and Dysrhythmia that
are able to make their mark. If Zonderhoof keep plugging along theyll
find their audience.
